Stairway Medical at Euroanaesthesia 2024 in Munich
Preliminary results for our new airway device were presented in two poster sessions at Europe's largest anaesthesiology and intensive-care congress.
Europe's largest anaesthesiology and intensive-care congress, Euroanaesthesia 2024, drew more than 130 exhibitors and thousands of delegates from over a hundred countries to Munich in late May.
Stairway Medical was there. In two well-attended poster sessions, Magnus Ljungvall presented preliminary results from recently completed randomised clinical trials of our new single-use device for free upper-airway patency during procedure-related sedation. Sedated study participants had five to six times more frequent (P = 0.0006) and cumulatively longer (P = 0.0014) episodes of airway obstruction without the device than with it, during target-controlled infusion of propofol to Marsh steady-state levels of 1.2 and 2.0 µg/mL. A separate randomised study in awake volunteers in Malmö further showed that the device enables oral capnographic breathing monitoring together with a high supplementary supply of oxygen.
